An international, sustainable energy business is seeking a Head of Business Development to sell decarbonisation solutions to the built environment. You can be based anywhere in the UK, but commutable to London is ideal. The role offers lots of flexibility and hybrid working. You will report into the Director of Energy, lead a team of Business Development Managers, and focus on selling large scale, sustainable energy solutions (£250k - £10m) to enable the decarbonisation of the property sector. You will work with the full array of technical solutions such as district heat networks (DHN), ground source heat pumps (GSHP), geothermal boreholes, air source heat pumps (ASHP), solar, LED, and water control devices.
Duties will include:
- Develop existing and generate new business relationships within the built environment, covering Local Authorities, Housing Associations, London Boroughs, County Councils, Property Developers, Public Sector services like the NHS, and corporate real estate.
- Develop proposals and bids for new heat, water, and energy decarbonisation projects, often working to frameworks and through procurement.
- Grow and manage your own portfolio of clients, as well as those allocated.
- Support lead generation, attend events, and client sites.
- Management and growth of the business development team.
- Support the delivery team and liaise closely with engineering and operations departments to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
- Deliver and report on your revenue targets.
Candidates MUST have:
- Strong business development and account management experience of sustainability or decarbonisation solutions.
- Experience selling technical solutions via frameworks, working on deals that can take 3 months to 12 months to close and managing the relevant stakeholders, contract negotiation, and internal teams to maximise successful outcomes.
- Good proposal and tender management capabilities.
Desirable are:
- Experience working with sustainable energy solutions, district heat networks, ASHP, GSHP, geothermal, heating, and water.
- Sales experience in the housing market, built environment, or commercial real estate space.
- Experience selling to public sector customers like local authorities, county councils, or the healthcare sector and operating via the relevant frameworks.
