Company Overview: My client is a well-established and highly regarded construction and fit-out specialist delivering premium commercial and high-end projects across London and the surrounding areas. Their portfolio includes luxury offices, high-spec retail units, hospitality spaces, and bespoke residential refurbishments, working with blue-chip clients and leading architects and designers.

Role Overview: An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join my client’s team. The successful Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of mixed projects (fit out, restoration, new build etc.) from tender through to final account, ensuring financial control, risk management and value engineering throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Prepare cost plans, estimates and budgets during pre-construction stages
  • Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including issuing tender packages and analysing returns
  • Produce and manage interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget and forecast costs
  • Ensure accurate monthly cost reporting and maintain cash flow forecasts
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and identify risks
  • Assess subcontractor applications and recommend payments
  • Provide contractual advice and manage relationships with clients and subcontractors
  • Support project teams with change control, claims, and contract administration

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience (post degree) as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within commercial and/or high-end fit-out sectors
  • Strong understanding of JCT contracts
  • Proven track record of managing budgets on projects in central London
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and industry-standard measurement software (e.g. Bluebeam, CostX)

Desirable:

  • Experience with CAT A and CAT B office fit-outs
  • Background in heritage or listed building refurbishments
