We are looking for a consultant specialising in climate to join our Sustainable Transition Strategy team. The successful candidate will work with project teams to advise and implement climate services so that clients can understand and elevate their climate ambition and performance. You will join a dedicated strategy team whose client portfolios span a diverse range of industries, from carbon-immature SMEs to well-known sustainability-aligned brands. Key sectors include manufacturing, construction, real estate, and private equity.
As a consultant, you will be supporting (and with experience, managing) the delivery of complex consulting projects, focused on climate strategy, net zero frameworks and implementation needs. BIP.Verco’s core service areas include:
- Net zero target setting under the SBTi Corporate Standard, and relevant sector guidance, in particular Forest Land and Agriculture (FLAG), Buildings, and Financial Institution guidance applied to private equity.
- Costed decarbonisation roadmaps and climate strategy development.
- Development of credible Climate Transition Plans.
- Strategic advice and analytical services around wider climate-related needs such as GHG accounting, disclosure requirements and climate risk management.
- Holistic sustainable transition support to clients working with BIP.Verco’s engineering, data and change management teams.
Consultants support targeted business development, service development and marketing activities.
Project Management: You support (and with experience, manage) the delivery of a range of projects/inputs, ensuring successful delivery to the client on time, to quality and within an agreed budget.
Technical input: You provide technical input and high-quality insightful data analysis to projects and work with the project teams to track the evolving requirements of net zero frameworks applicable to a broad range of sectors, notably manufacturing, construction, real estate, and private equity.
Business development and proposal writing: You work with the sector leads and Head of Service to support business development working on targeted business development activities, including writing proposals.
Client management: You maintain strong relationships with existing clients and build lasting relationships with new clients with the expectation of continuing and, where possible, increasing revenues from key accounts.
Operational: You provide timely responses to operational needs including (but not limited to) invoicing, reviews, project management information, time-sheeting, health & safety, etc.
Performance targets: You take responsibility for meeting targeted levels of personal performance and productivity.
Environmental: You contribute to BIP.Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR team objectives when required.
Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, geography, economics, sciences, environmental, or equivalent and relevant areas demonstrating qualitative and quantitative skills. Member of professional institutions e.g. ISEP.
Experience: Experience in a sustainability or business consultancy environment. Working in project teams and delivering to deadlines. Managing projects/programmes, project teams & delivering to deadlines. Managing bids and delivering proposals to deadlines. Advising clients on strategic risks and opportunities, such as policy impact assessments or risks and opportunity appraisals. Financial services, such as financial planning, accounting, data analysis, valuation, or financial reporting within an investment or corporate context.
Knowledge: An understanding of global climate science, international decarbonisation pathways, and the practical application of net zero frameworks, including working knowledge of SBTi, GHG Protocol, and/or PCAF alignment. Good understanding of one or more of our key client sectors: manufacturing, construction and real estate, and private equity. GHG accounting of complex value chains, in particular scope 3. Understanding of financial services, enterprise risk management, or change management. Climate science, including resilience and adaptation planning, and quantitative climate scenario modelling.
Skills: A genuine passion for sustainability and interest in being at forefront of climate advisory. Analytical approach and demonstrable ability to work with large data sets. The ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and bring intellectual curiosity to a range of project types and client sectors. Effective communication skills to engage confidently with senior client stakeholders, as well as to manage internal workloads and collaborate across teams. A professional and adaptable manner, able to represent BIP.Verco credibly across a range of client environments. High level of competence in the use of IT, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Queries/Power BI and other Office 365 products AI tools and their practical application in sustainability and consulting workflows, including data analysis, deliverable structuring, project management, and client reporting.
Other requirements & attributes: Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (although role is predominantly desk-based).
