Vercity are a UK market leader in the management of public sector assets and infrastructure across the UK and North America. Established for nearly 30 years, we manage in excess of 50% of public sector SPV contracts and we are currently seeking to appoint a Commercial Lead to join our site-based team on the largest healthcare SPV project in the UK – a flagship project for Vercity and the NHS.

Reporting to our Portfolio Director, you will effectively be the Commercial Lead for the Project Funders and Trust Board to ensure full compliance and commercial oversight of the project in all areas including, but not exclusive to, lifecycle management, variations, deeds, defects, costings, pay mechanisms, value for money, legal matters, Board communication and stakeholder engagement and management. This can be summarised as:

  • Lead compliance and delivery across Management Services and Project Agreements, ensuring risks are identified and managed.
  • Act as primary commercial interface with Boards, Funders, and stakeholders, providing clear reporting and governance oversight.
  • Drive commercial performance, including financial compliance, lifecycle obligations, and end-to-end management of contract variations.
  • Provide strategic leadership on contractual, legislative, and regulatory matters, ensuring agreements remain fit for purpose.
  • Embed best practice across projects and identify new commercial opportunities to support business growth.

The successful candidate will have developed through a commercial route within construction, facilities and/or professional services and be a:

  • Senior commercial leader with a proven track record delivering strategy, building high-performing teams, and managing full project lifecycles on complex PPP/PFI schemes.
  • Significant experience operating at executive level across major projects, engaging confidently with investors, financiers, legal advisors, and client organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management expertise, successfully collaborating across finance, design, construction, and operational delivery functions.
  • Deep understanding of PFI/PPP commercial and legal structures, including risk allocation, funding models, and complex contract environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, driving alignment and performance across diverse workstreams.
