This unit strategically collaborates with major corporate clients in the UK to address their banking requirements. With regional offices providing nationwide coverage, we can effectively assist and engage with all UK corporations, utilising a localised relationship model.As a summer analyst, you will gain foundational banking knowledge, teaching you about a bank\’s role in the UK economy. You will help aid strategic clients with diverse needs, from everyday banking to intricate mergers, acquisitions, and broader areas like Environmental, Social and Governance planning. Our dedicated sector and regional specialists provide deep business insights, ensuring clients receive relevant advice and create seamless end-to-end experiences. Additionally, the Barclaycard Payments Coverage team specialises in efficient, reliable, and secure payment methods for online, in-person, or phone transactions, providing detailed reporting and analytics to help clients understand trends and improve processes.Who we\’re looking forTo be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate year of your degree, in any discipline.Ideally, you\’ll have a keen interest in finance and business. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, all of which might be showcased through your involvement in extracurricular activities.The location for this role is indicated in the job title, and you will be based at that location. If you are accepted into our graduate programme, your base location will be the same as it was during your internship.Applicants for this position will need the legal right to work in the UK on a full time basis from June 2026 to August 2026. This is not a role which we can offer sponsorship for at this time.If you secure a place on our Internship Programme, and this subsequently leads to you receiving an offer for our Graduate Programme, the 2027 Graduate Programme is not one which we can offer sponsorship for at this time. Accordingly, to participate in the Graduate Programme, you would require having the legal right to work full time for the duration of that Programme (i.e. August 2027 to August 2029)Working in BirminghamBarclays Snowhill is at the heart of the professional district and commands a workforce of around 1000. With great transport links to Birmingham Grand Central and Snowhill train stations as well as the local metro. Our office has a dedicated staff coffee shop and deli and break out areas for staff. There is also a presentation theatre for client and staff events. Our office boasts a great working environment as well as opportunities to network across the city. Purpose of the roleTo participate in the day-to-day activities of the UK corporate banking division providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.AccountabilitiesExecution of small research projects, research to support strategic decision making, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate research findings, collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for UK corporate banking.Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.Participation in training and development programmes to enhance skills and knowledge.Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for UK corporate banking.Analyst ExpectationsWill have an impact on the work of related teams within the area.Partner with other functions and business areas.Takes responsibility for end results of a team\’s operational processing and activities.Escalate breaches of policies / procedures appropriately.Take responsibility for embedding new policies/ procedures adopted due to risk mitigation.Advise and influence decision making within own area of expertise.Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you own or contribute to.
