About the role: A Senior Hydrogeology/Engineering Consultant is a specialist role with Coffey Geotechnics Limited, a Tetra Tech Company, working on dedicated groundwater projects and contributing to groundwater aspects of wider geotechnical projects. The role involves planning and conducting professional work without detailed supervision, but with guidance and mentoring on unusual features from an expert in this field. Responsible for the management and output of projects (or specialist groundwater tasks within large projects), the role involves representing the company with clients, consultants and contractors, developing relationships and exploring opportunities of increasing workload and revenue. The role also establishes professional standards and procedures and shares knowledge with others, acting as a mentor and assisting in the development of more junior members of staff. In addition to the groundwater engineering role there is potential for contributing to wider geotechnical and geological schemes as appropriate.
Role Responsibilities:
- Be an ambassador for Coffey in the groundwater field; promote our interests and reputation

- Play an active role in your safety and the safety of others around you
- Be prepared to manage projects with a degree of technical complexity
- Be prepared to travel on occasion for project related work when required. This could be working from other Coffey offices within the UK or abroad for defined periods of time; or on client sites within the UK or abroad
Essential Skills:
- Enthusiasm and a keen interest in continually developing your groundwater consultancy skills within a geotechnical engineering environment
- Desire to apply detailed knowledge of hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering and project management principles
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and specialist groundwater software such as SEEP/W, MODFLOW, FEFLOW or similar industry standard software.
- Working knowledge of geotechnical practice and standards, including pumping tests and permeability testing, Eurocode 7 and UK annex design codes, ground investigation and construction contracts and specifications
- An ability to present appropriate information in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing
- Good interpersonal skills and a strong team focus
Desirable Skills:
- An understanding of the operating model of a specialist consulting business
- An understanding of how innovative and practical solutions create client value - can contribute to new or original techniques in the design
- An ability in a client facing role promoting technical capabilities and service offerings to clients
- An ability to identify and convert new business opportunities with existing and new clients
Relevant Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Civil Engineering or similar
- Postgraduate qualification (MSc, MEng or PhD) in a related field (e.g. hydrogeology/engineering geology/geotechnical engineering) is an advantage
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status through an appropriate professional body
Training or other course that we will provide/encourage:
- Geological Society course on Temporary Works Groundwater Control for Construction
- Project Management training

- Potential for project-dependent security clearance to be requested.
