Description £41,344 - £45,479 the band minimum is the normal starting pay for those new to a role. In exceptional circumstances, when relevant skills and experience can be identified, a higher starting salary may be considered. BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. You\'ll be joining the Open Oceans research group of the Polar Oceans science team. We use a combination of numerical and observational approaches to understand the role of the ocean in the development of global climate. You\'ll help us to deliver an examination and quantification of the drivers and mechanisms of subsurface heat accumulation in sea-ice-covered regions of the Southern Ocean. You will contribute to the development and analysis of eddy-resolving numerical model experiments aimed at isolating individual processes to assess their role in the warming of Circumpolar Deep Water. In addition to working closely with colleagues at BAS, you will actively collaborate with project partners in Norway and Australia. Within the role, there will be an opportunity to develop your numerical modelling and experimental design skills, as well as oral and written presentation skills. BAS staff have access to a wide range of training opportunities, including the use of scientific software, scientific writing skills and leadership training. This will allow you to direct your professional development in your favoured direction.
