Join us as an Investment Banking Lawyer at Barclays, where you will provide senior legal support as part of the Investment Banking Legal team serving the EMEA region with a particular focus on our Leveraged Finance, High Yield/DCM and Strategic/Alternative Capital businesses. You will join colleagues providing legal and regulatory advice on a variety of transactional and non-transactional matters. We are keen to hear from you if you have experience in leveraged financings such as senior secured term and revolving facilities, new LBO financings, refinancings, dividend recaps, PIK loans, unitranche financings and private placements.Key skills required for this role include:Qualified lawyer in the UK, US or other common law jurisdiction (other jurisdictions may be considered too)Strong leveraged/high yield finance experience gained in private practice and/or in-house at a financial institution.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to share knowledge proactively.Previous experience working effectively in a fast-paced, complex and multi-dimensional environment.You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.This role will be based in London. Purpose of the roleTo ensure that activities of the investment banking division are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and reputational risks associated with these activities.AccountabilitiesDevelopment and implementation of best practice legal strategies to manage risk related to non-adherence to laws, rules and regulations..Legal advice and support to the bank\’s investment banking division on legal matters including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, lending and other corporate finance transactions.Subject matter support in the Legal department\’s representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to investment banking activities, such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.Creation and/or review of legal documents for the investment banking division to ensure the bank\’s adherence with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Maintaining and updating form legal documentation for the investment banking division.Legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws, rules and regulations that may impact the bank\’s investment banking activities.Developing and delivering training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the investment banking activities.Act as legal advisor to the Investment banking transaction approval committees on laws, rules and regulations.Vice President ExpectationsTo contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
