  • Commercially minded, strong experience of working with hospitals and pharmacies
  • Open to people from an operational background who has owned P&L and driven revenue, but also a strong BD / high level commercial professional at a strategic level

You will join a leading global pharma services business as Head of Unlicensed Medicines, taking ownership of a key area of its UK operation during an exciting period of growth, rebuilding and repositioning.

This is a broad commercial leadership role, combining specialist unlicensed medicines knowledge with the opportunity to shape the direction of the business, develop its product portfolio and drive further commercial growth.

The business is looking for someone who understands the unlicensed medicines market, knows how to navigate complex sourcing requirements and has the commercial ability to turn market opportunities into revenue.

The opportunity

  • Take ownership of the Unlicensed Medicines portfolio, identifying opportunities to expand product availability, develop supplier relationships and grow market share.
  • Strengthen relationships across retail pharmacies, the NHS, pharmaceutical wholesalers and suppliers.
  • Develop the commercial strategy, taking ownership of revenue, margins, costs and overall business performance.
  • Identify opportunities across the UK market, whilst working collaboratively with international teams to maximise product sourcing and distribution opportunities.
  • Lead and develop the team, bringing greater structure, direction and commercial focus.
  • Challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities for improvement and help shape the longer-term strategy for the UK business.

This is quite an interchangeable role when it comes to background, so they're not hard lined by needing someone who has a background as a business developer - they're open to different backgrounds, whether you're an established commercial leader with extensive unlicensed medicines experience or a specialist in the ULM market looking to take on greater commercial responsibility.

What they're looking for

  • A strong background in unlicensed medicines, ideally within named patient supply, parallel imports, Specials or specialist pharmaceutical distribution.
  • Commercial experience, with a track record of developing customer relationships (sales or ops), growing product portfolios and generating revenue.
  • An understanding of the end-to-end supply chain, including product sourcing, supplier relationships, product availability, pricing and margins.
  • Experience working with retail pharmacies, the NHS and pharmaceutical wholesalers would be advantageous.
  • Previous team leadership experience, with the ability to take ownership of commercial performance and wider business objectives.
  • Someone hands-on, commercially astute and comfortable operating in a changing environment.

What's in it for you?

  • The opportunity to shape and influence the future of an established but evolving UK business.
  • Real ownership over a key business area, with visibility across the wider leadership team.
  • The opportunity to develop the team, portfolio and commercial strategy rather than simply maintain an existing operation.
  • Exposure to a global pharmaceutical services group, with opportunities to collaborate across the UK, Ireland, Europe, the US and Australia.
  • A business that is open to new ideas, different approaches and shaping the position around the right individual.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine impact, combining their knowledge of the unlicensed medicines market with the commercial drive to build and grow a business.
