As an Associate Solicitor, you will help our General Counsel and the Head of Regulatory Affairs to minimize legal and regulatory risk and align with essential business objectives.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Support our legal and compliance teams, specifically the General Counsel and Head of Regulatory Affairs, with the day-to-day legal and compliance workflow.
  • Assist the General Counsel and Head of Regulatory Affairs with various CoSec, data protection, and litigation matters.
  • Work with the legal team on activities such as drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and customer contracts, handling property and employment matters, drafting and maintaining standard T&Cs, reviewing marketing content, defending claims, and drafting correspondence.
  • Assist the compliance team in monitoring, summarizing, and responding to regulatory documents, ensuring awareness of obligations and compliance with changes.
  • Keep the team updated on legal developments and help share information within the business, including delivering training where appropriate.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, ensuring legal and regulatory risks are minimized.
  • Help ensure the group complies with regulatory requirements of bodies such as Ofcom, Ofwat, Ofgem, WICS, and the FCA.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A qualified solicitor with a strong academic record and several years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, changing organization.
  • Some commercial experience, preferably in an in-house environment, with a wide range of prior experience.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage a sizeable workload effectively with good organizational skills.
