About the Role

We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated and pro-active individual to join our Project Engineering Department as a Project Control Engineer based at our West Yorkshire site in Leeds.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the role is responsible for providing technical leadership across the end to end manufacturing processes across all Company sites (Leeds, Castleford and Knottingley).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of plant control, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Leads capital investment projects from concept through to commissioning.
  • Combines hands-on technical expertise with project management responsibilities, including contractor management, CAPEX budgeting and cost control, process optimisation, and the delivery of innovative engineering solutions that improve operational performance, product quality, sustainability, safety, and plant reliability.
  • Provides technical ownership of the site's PLC, SCADA, control, and instrumentation systems.
  • Manages the calibration and maintenance of critical process measurement systems and supports manufacturing processes.
  • Develops CAPEX projects from feasibility through commissioning and handover.
  • Manages project risks, change control, and stakeholder communications.
  • Handles Contractor & Supplier management.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will hold a Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or related discipline.

  • Previous skills and knowledge in a manufacturing or process industry environment.
  • Experience in managing contractors and external suppliers.
  • Technical competences in PLC programming and fault finding.
  • SCADA system design and support.
  • Process automation and control strategies.

  • Develop and deliver projects to make improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Can-do attitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of IT literacy using Microsoft packages.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Pay range and compensation package

This is a monthly paid staff position, working 35 hours per week, however, due to the nature of the role, there may be occasions when you will be required to work over and above your contracted hours and demonstrate a level of flexibility.
