Glass is infinitely recyclable making it an important packaging material of today and more importantly of the future, as such the glass industry is an exciting and sustainable business to work in and be part of.
We’re looking for a proactive, resilient, and ambitious HR Officer to join our dynamic team. This is not a desk-bound role – it’s an exciting, employee-facing position where your initiative, adaptability, and determination will be challenged and developed regularly. The structure of the HR Function means that you will be required to run the production facility autonomously for all day-to-day duties, however, this will be with on-going support of the Regional HR Manager and HR Director.
What You’ll Do
- Be the Go-To Advisor: Provide responsive, practical HR advice to managers and employees on a wide range of issues. In some cases, you will be responsible for leading meetings related to disciplinary, grievance and performance.
- Lead Investigations: Conduct investigatory meetings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislation and company procedures.
- Drive Recruitment: Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection for allocated vacancies, working closely with hiring managers.
- Engage with the Community: Collaborate with the L&D team and build relationships with local schools and colleges.
- Champion Wellbeing: Lead absence management and support occupational health policies, including managing long-term sickness cases and developing robust return-to-work plans.
- Be Present on Site: Attend and contribute to meetings at both Leeds and Knottingley production sites.
- Shape the Future: Assist in developing role definitions and person specifications to align with business needs.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas and energy to the ongoing development of HR systems and processes.
- Deliver Insight: Provide accurate HR data and reports to inform business decisions.
- Get Involved: Support the HR Manager and Director with ad hoc projects and initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Strength of Character: You’re confident, assertive, and able to maintain your position in challenging situations.
- Initiative & Drive: You don’t wait to be told what to do—you identify issues, take ownership, and see things through.
- Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and can manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to Growth: You’re determined to develop your HR expertise and progress your career.
- Resilience: You can handle setbacks, learn from them, and keep moving forward.
- Excellent Communication: You build trust and rapport at all levels, even when delivering tough messages.
Why This Role Will Transform Your Career
- Unmatched Exposure: You’ll deal directly with complex, real-world HR issues—gaining experience that can only be found in specific industries such as 24/7 manufacturing.
- Accelerated Development: The hands-on, challenging nature of the role will rapidly build your confidence, skills, and professional credibility.
- Make a Real Impact: Your work will directly influence the employee experience and the success of our business.
- Supportive Team: You’ll be part of a collaborative, ambitious HR team that values your ideas and invests in your growth.
