A large UK charity is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide strategic leadership through a critical period of financial turnaround and organisational transformation. This is a genuine opportunity to lead a high-profile programme of change rather than simply provide interim cover. Working closely with the CEO, Board and Executive Team, you'll oversee a number of strategic initiatives that will shape the future of the organisation before handing over to the incoming permanent Finance Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership during a period of financial turnaround and organisational change.
- Take a comprehensive handover from the outgoing Finance Director before ensuring a seamless transition to the incoming permanent FD.
- Oversee the delivery of a major group simplification programme, reducing approximately 30 legal entities into a significantly streamlined structure through a wider rationalisation and solvent restructuring project.
- Partner with the CEO, Trustees and Executive Team to support strategic decision-making and organisational transformation.
- Review the effectiveness of the finance function, making recommendations around future team structure, governance, systems and financial processes.
- Ensure robust financial control, reporting, cashflow management and governance throughout the transition.
- Build confidence across the organisation while providing calm, credible leadership during a period of significant change.
About You
- You'll be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with previous experience operating at Finance Director or equivalent level within a complex organisation.
- A proven track record of leading financial turnaround, transformation or restructuring programmes.
- Experience working closely with Boards, CEOs and senior stakeholders.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach when required.
- Strong leadership skills with the credibility to quickly establish trust across a complex organisation.
- Previous charity or not-for-profit experience would be advantageous, although candidates from other complex or regulated environments are encouraged to apply.
If you're looking for an assignment where you'll leave a lasting impact on both the organisation and its future finance function, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
