We’re working with a successful SME in Leicester, which forms part of a wider group, to recruit a commercially minded Finance Business Partner into a highly visible role working closely with stakeholders across the business.

This opportunity would suit a finalist or newly qualified accountant who already has a strong grounding in management accounting but wants their next move to take them much closer to the operational and commercial side of a business.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you’ll become a key link between finance and the wider organisation, building relationships with operational and senior stakeholders and helping them understand what sits behind the numbers.

Rather than simply producing financial information, you’ll be expected to interpret it, communicate it effectively and use it to influence better commercial decisions.

What will you be doing?

• Partnering with operational and senior stakeholders across the business
• Building strong relationships with non-finance teams and becoming a trusted point of contact for financial matters
• Translating financial information into clear, practical commercial insight
• Challenging stakeholders around performance, assumptions, costs and profitability
• Helping managers understand key financial drivers and identify opportunities to improve margins and efficiency
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and longer-term planning
• Analysing actual performance against budgets and forecasts and providing meaningful commentary
• Supporting business cases, investment appraisals and commercial decision-making
• Producing management information, KPIs and analysis for senior leadership
• Retaining involvement in management accounting and month-end activities while developing an increasingly commercial remit
• Supporting wider strategic, operational and finance transformation projects

Who are we looking for?

You’ll ideally be a CIMA, ACCA or ACA finalist or newly qualified accountant with a strong financial grounding and, importantly, the confidence and communication skills to work effectively with people outside of finance.

Previous business partnering experience would be beneficial, but we’re equally interested in candidates currently working in management accounting or commercial finance who can demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and are ready to take the next step.

This is a role for someone who enjoys asking questions, understanding how a business operates and using financial information to influence decision-making rather than simply reporting what has already happened.

What’s on offer?

The salary on offer is £50,000 – £55,000, with study support available for candidates still completing their professional qualification.

The business would ideally like someone predominantly onsite in Leicester due to the stakeholder-facing nature of the position, although hybrid working can be discussed for the right candidate.

There is also a clear longer-term development opportunity. As you build your profile within the organisation, there will be scope to take on greater responsibility and explore future progression opportunities both within the business itself and across the wider group.
