- What you'll be doing;
- Welcoming and processing incoming waste and disposal vehicles, identifying the origin and type of waste being delivered.
- Checking delivery notes and waste documentation to ensure compliance with Duty of Care and Carrier Registration requirements.
- Operating the weighbridge system to accurately record vehicle weights on arrival and departure.
- Directing vehicles safely to the correct tipping or disposal area, in line with instructions from the site operations team.
- Supporting vehicles referred from the Waste Recycling Centre (WRC), including completing relevant documentation and disclaimer forms.
- Ensuring all drivers and visitors are wearing the required PPE before entering operational areas of the site.
- Maintaining accurate weighbridge records and completing daily data downloads, system back-ups and associated paperwork.
- Acting as a first point of contact for telephone calls, visitors and other site communications.
- Providing general administrative support, including ordering site goods and supplies and assisting with weekly payroll documentation.
- Covering colleagues during periods of annual leave or absence, sometimes at short notice, and undertaking other reasonable duties as required.
- Working in line with all site safety procedures, environmental requirements, quality management systems and relevant legislation.
What we're looking for;
- Experience in an administrative, customer-facing, logistics, transport, waste or weighbridge-based role would be advantageous.
- Confidence using computer systems and office equipment, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- The ability to operate, or learn to operate, a weighbridge system accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent organisational skills, with a strong eye for detail and a commitment to accurate record keeping.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- A customer-focused approach, with tact and diplomacy when dealing with drivers, members of the public and sensitive information.
- The ability to follow procedures, manage documentation and work reliably in a busy operational environment.
- An understanding of the importance of health, safety and environmental compliance, including the use of PPE and safe working practices.
- Comfortable working across both an office environment and an active waste management site.
- A flexible and supportive approach, with the ability to provide cover and respond to changing site requirements.
