We're seeking a Senior Energy Engineer to join our Technical Department's Energy team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of energy innovation and decarbonisation, working on high-value projects ranging from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of pounds. You'll play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge energy solutions across diverse sectors including NHS hospitals, industrial facilities, and district heating networks. As a Senior Energy Engineer, you'll combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to drive operational excellence and identify energy-saving opportunities. You'll work with advanced modelling tools to evaluate emerging technologies like carbon capture, support major decarbonisation projects, and influence key stakeholder decisions. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on sustainability while working with a dynamic team across multiple sites, shaping the future of energy efficiency and environmental performance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the development of new energy projects up to £10m, using advanced modelling tools to identify energy savings and optimise performance of assets including CHP plants, heat pumps, and HVAC equipment.
  • Lead technology innovation by evaluating emerging decarbonisation technologies and business models.
  • Contribute to bid-winning strategies and financial models, supporting contract negotiations on guaranteed performance and Measurement & Verification aspects.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing technical KPIs, investigating performance variations, and developing action plans to enhance operational efficiency across multiple sites.
  • Deliver decarbonisation surveys and energy audits for diverse sectors.

What we're looking for:

  • Relevant experience in the energy/building services industry.
  • A qualified degree in Mechanical Engineering or adequate demonstration of competencies.
  • Theoretical understanding of Building Energy system (e.g. HVAC) and industrial energy and utility systems (e.g. steam, hot water, CHP, heat pumps, chilled water, district energy, building services, hydraulics).
  • Able to articulate a good understanding of design concepts and project management.
  • A creative, solution-oriented thinker with excellent communication skills.
