What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct environmental monitoring and sampling according to schedules, manage results reporting, and address non-conformances with action/control levels and permit limits
- Collect, accurately log, and maintain data, records, and reports to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements
- Perform hands-on site inspections and sample collection to verify compliance with permit conditions, legislation, and company procedures
- Collaborate with all departments to develop best practices, address non-conformances, and maintain documented evidence for Environmental Permit conditions
- Promote positive safety culture through leadership, incident reporting, and maintaining awareness of permits, UK environmental legislation, and regulatory guidance
- Ensure environmental monitoring and control infrastructure (gas and leachate collection systems) are properly maintained and coordinate with third-party contractors
- Assess monitoring results and laboratory data against permitted limits, manage gas infrastructure balancing, and report defects in environmental systems
- Operate and optimize leachate treatment plant and landfill gas control systems (including flare), sample waste streams, manage analysis results, and ensure discharge consent compliance
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- Experienced in sampling and monitoring techniques
- Comfortable with producing detailed reports
- Bachelor's degree in environmental or relevant science, or equivalent experience
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
Desirable:
- Leachate treatment and or gas utilisation plant operation and maintenance
- Environmental legislations and industrial pollution monitoring
- Legionella awareness
- Knowledge of landfill safety systems
