Maintenance Operations Engineer Apprentice
Salary: £22,048 per annum plus Veolia benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Location: Veolia Battlefields, Vanguard Way, Shrewsbury SY1 3TG
Programme Duration: Up to 42 Months
Candidate shortlisting will take place on w/c 28th July, and assessment days will take place between w/c 4th – 11th August 2025.

Apprenticeship Programme;
During this programme, we\’ll help you develop your practical and behavioural skills and support you in gaining the technical and professional knowledge required for you to succeed in your career.
As well as this, you\’ll also gain a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Certificate, NVQ Competency Certificate & IOSH Working Safely.
With many of our colleagues starting as apprentices, you\’ll receive full support and guidance from everyone throughout.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you\’ll have received industry-standard training and attained qualifications that will enable you to progress and reach your full potential.
What you\’ll be doing;
- Monitor and control process parameter conditions such as flow rates, pressures, temperatures, and set points
- Support the Shift Team Leader in overseeing and managing plant operations
- Monitor the plant parameter adjustments, reporting any irregularities or process variations
- Monitor and control the usage of raw materials, chemicals and other plant utilities effectively
- Monitor environmental emissions and adjust operation and dosing to maintain compliance
- Assist and prepare operational reports as requested
- Safely and efficiently manage shutdown/start-up of the plant/systems in accordance with plant operating procedures and parameters
- Perform emergency operations during unit trips and abnormal operating conditions to place plant equipment in a safe operating condition
- Participate in all phases of start-up and commissioning of the Boiler, Turbine Generator and all plant auxiliaries following shutdowns
- Manage calls and enquiries from members of the public as required
What we\’re looking for;
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade 4/C (or equivalent) achieved or predicted, including Maths, English & preferably Science
- Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new skills
- Good Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work with others
