Job Description

We are seeking a talented Proposals Engineer to join our prestigious team specialising in innovative water treatment solutions across Europe. Based in our European Service Centre in Peterborough, UK, we deliver cutting-edge water treatment projects utilising our advanced fleet of mobile and containerised plants.

Salary from £40k up to £45k per annum depending on experience.

Location; Peterborough or remote

What We Do:

The Assets team within Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions services business develops designs and proposals for short and long-term water treatment projects for industrial water treatment, mainly for pure and process water applications, primarily using an existing fleet of mobile and containerised water treatment plants.

Our work scope is diverse and varied, including emergency deployments, routine applications, and complex projects based on multiple technologies such as Filtration, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Electrodeionisation, Ion Exchange etc. We also design and propose long-term agreements for Veolia-owned water treatment plants based on mobile / containerised units.

Our Service Centre for Europe is based in Peterborough, UK with projects located and executed all across Europe.

Summary of Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Creating technically and commercially compliant proposals

• Development of technical documents (Process Description, PFD, P&ID)

• Contract review and negotiation

• Experience in Ion exchange, membrane (Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis) and wastewater (DAF) technologies

• Cost evaluation and pricing of projects (installation, commissioning, consumables)

• Risk identification and mitigation with focus on HSE

• Bachelor\’s/Master\’s degree in mechanical, chemical or environmental engineering

• Minimum 3 years experience in water/wastewater treatment

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in matrix organization

• Experience in bid management and customer presentations

Main Tasks:

• The main responsibility of a Proposal / Commercial Engineer is to lead project opportunities from inquiry to order, with ethical integrity and creative thinking, to develop safe & effective water treatment solutions for our Customers.

• The role includes assisting the Sales team with initial lead qualification, development of opportunities through technical and commercial guidance, process design development (often in consultation with experts in global teams), cost model evaluation, and pricing with commercial awareness of the market.

• Commercial Engineering scope includes creation of Customer-facing proposals and supporting documents (sometimes including public tender deliverables), identification of technical improvements, performance of system audits etc. Our proposals are developed in close collaboration with the country based operational teams.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

• Master\’s or Bachelor\’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering

• Professional certifications are welcomed

• 3+ years\’ proven track record in water/wastewater operations, engineering or bid management

• Industrial sector experience highly valued

• Background in application engineering, bid management or business development is advantageous

Preferred Skills:

• Strong understanding of water treatment services

• Commercial acumen, including contract law and financial principles

• Experience with water/ wastewater outsourcing contracts beneficial

• Outstanding English communication skills (written and verbal)

• Additional European languages highly valued (particularly French, Italian, German or Dutch)

• Flexibility to travel within the UK and EU (driving licence preferred)
