The Design Proposals & Projects Manager will set the strategy for and lead multi-disciplinary Design-Proposals and Project teams delivering water purification projects from concept to completion across a broad range of UK customers and industries and within operational frameworks and quality management systems.
The Design and Proposals team develop water purification proposals from scope appraisal including tender evaluations, system design selection and sizing of equipment and resources, estimating and proposal writing. The project management and delivery team delivers turnkey projects through procurement activity, sub-contractor management and supervision, system commissioning and handover to customer operations and the Purite service team.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Purite Design-Proposals and Project delivery teams.
- Ensure compliance with all VEOLIA Health Safety Quality and Environmental Policies.
- Ensure a profitable Engineering P&L is sustained and enhanced.
- Delivery of all aspects of project delivery to time, quality and budget targets.
- Provide short, medium and long term financial planning.
- Owner-responsibility of Purite engineering processes.
- Support and guide BDMs and D&P engineers to ensure customer scope requirements are understood and Purite response is matching achievable and adds value.
- Assist with Design and Proposals activity as/when required.
- Provide clear project design detail guidance to D&P engineers to meet scope requirements consistent with appropriate engineering standards.
- Lead contract evaluation and negotiation with Legal assistance.
- Advocate to all stakeholders to provide value-added differential advantage in proposals and products focusing on:
- Standards and contract compliance
- How we can decrease total cost of operation
- Improve operating efficiency
- Minimise Environmental Health and Safety issues
- Enhance customer competitive advantage
Qualifications
- Ideally degree qualified in Chemical or Process engineering with knowledge of water chemistry and fluid dynamics.
- Demonstrated capability to deliver strategic projects including contract management.
- Experienced team leader preferably of a multi-discipline team.
- Familiar with current HSE legislation and best practices incl. CDM standards.
- A detailed understanding of process design and project management requirements.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Proven planning, organizational and implementation skills ideally involving cross functional networking.
The post holder must hold a full UK driving licence and must be able to travel and stay overnight as required.
