We are recruiting for a key role in a Materials Control team within the Production department of a growing business. To meet the Production Planning schedules, this role will coordinate and report on the production fulfilment process. This involves managing materials shortages for Sales, Project and Engineering requirements to ensure the timely fulfilment of WIP and carry out some Purchasing activities as needed.

The Production Planner/Purchaser will:

  • Monitor the execution of production plans, resolve any potential issues, communicating any delays to relevant stakeholders.
  • Investigate any production problems, delays, interruptions, shortages, identify root causes and provide solutions.
  • Work closely with the Purchasing team to monitor and chase material.
  • Procure materials and raise purchase orders as required to complete non-standard product requests.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers to chase outstanding items and escalate where necessary.
  • Review and monitor WIP to ensure job completion, reduce open jobs and ensure transactions are carried out in the system.
  • Coordinate and action engineering change notes and non-conformities on behalf of the materials control function.
  • Regularly review standard times, maintain correct routing times and capture accurate costing of processes.
  • Participate in improvement activities focusing on balancing Customer Service Levels with cost and efficiency.
  • Represent the Production Planning function in meetings (for Sales Orders, Projects, NPI requirements).
  • Assist with the generation and documentation of processes and procedures, and KPIs for the materials control function.

We are looking for proven experience in a Production Planning/Materials Controller role, and use of an MRP system within a planning function will be needed. Strong Excel skills will be required, and some Power BI experience would be ideal but not essential. If you have some previous purchasing experience that would be a bonus in this role.

This is a fabulous business with a friendly, team-orientated culture. Great benefits offered including 25 days holiday (with the option to purchase up to 5 days annual leave), a generous pension scheme, Westfield Health Plan, employee assistance programme, life assurance, cycle to work scheme, recruitment referral scheme, and Christmas shutdown.
