Venturi is working with an organisation seeking an experienced Lead BI Engineer to own technical delivery across BI projects, combining hands-on development with leadership and client engagement.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable BI solutions, focusing on data modelling, reporting, and analytics. This role involves translating architectural standards into practical solutions, optimising performance, and mentoring BI Engineers. You will also play a key role in stakeholder engagement, ensuring solutions meet business needs and best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of BI solutions across Azure Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, and Lakehouse environments
- Own technical delivery, ensuring solutions are performant, scalable, and maintainable
- Provide expertise in data modelling, DAX, SQL, and reporting optimisation
- Implement and uphold BI engineering best practices, including CI/CD, governance, and security
- Act as the primary technical contact for stakeholders, leading workshops and solution design sessions
- Manage delivery timelines, risks, and quality, ensuring successful project outcomes
- Remain hands-on with complex builds, performance tuning, and problem resolution
- Mentor and support BI Engineers, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Strong experience with Power BI, DAX, SQL, and tabular data modelling
- Experience working with Azure-based BI tools (Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, Lakehouse)
- Proven track record delivering and optimising enterprise BI solutions
- Experience leading BI projects or teams in a client-facing environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Additional Information
Microsoft and/or Databricks certifications are desirable. Candidates must be UK-based with the right to work (no visa sponsorship available).
