Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Information Protection Consultant with deep expertise in Microsoft Purview, Unstructured Data, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Insider Risk Management to join our client on a Part-Time consulting contract.

The successful candidate will support two projects, advisory and delivery-focused aimed at strengthening their data governance and security posture through Microsoft technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and best practice support across:
  • Auto-labelling within Microsoft Purview and its practical implementation
  • Review and development of DLP use cases, including sanity-checking pre-existing ones
  • Best practices for verifying labelled data against defined use cases
  • Advisory support on Insider Risk Management, tailoring it to the client’s context
  • Lead a comprehensive Discovery engagement to assess and plan for a Microsoft Purview pilot implementation. Activities include:
  • Facilitate workshops to gather requirements and define project objectives around labelling and DLP
  • Identify pilot users and relevant device types (incl. OS variations)
  • Map out current file repositories and sensitive information sources
  • Define manual and automatic labelling strategies and DLP settings
  • Establish Insider Risk Management objectives and criteria
  • Document gaps and improvement areas within the current environment
  • Provide informal knowledge transfer on labelling approaches and user adoption strategies

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering Microsoft Purview, Unstructured Data, Information Protection, or Compliance solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Auto-labelling
  • Hands-on experience with Insider Risk Management within Microsoft 365
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, capture requirements, and translate them into actionable plans
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to business and technical stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Certifications in Security, Compliance, and Identity
  • Experience working in consultancy or partner environments
  • Familiarity with user adoption and change management best practices
