Network Engineer

I\’m currently working with a client in the construction sector who are looking for a 2nd Line Network Engineer to support their network operations on a short-term 3-month contract.

• Duration: 3 months
• IR35: Inside IR35
• Location: Central London (3 days onsite per week)

Role Overview

The successful contractor will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the organisation’s network infrastructure, acting as a key escalation point for network-related issues. This role is very hands‑on and focused on day‑to‑day operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and maintain Cisco Meraki firewalls
• Resolve escalated network issues as part of a 2nd line support function
• Support LAN, WAN, VPN, and connectivity‑related incidents
• Maintain the stability and performance of the network environment
• Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution in Azure‑based environments
• Work closely with internal IT teams to ensure business continuity

Required Experience

• Strong experience with Cisco Meraki, particularly firewall configuration and management
• Proven background in 2nd line network support
• Solid understanding of core networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
• Experience maintaining and supporting live production networks
• Exposure to Azure networking environments
• Previous experience working in fast‑paced or operational environments (construction, engineering, or similar)
