We are looking for a professional SIA Security Officer to join the Bath BID Night Marshal. Working as part of a dedicated team focused on reducing low level crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
Duties
- Act as an ambassador for Bath BID, Venture Security and the city’s business community, helping to create a safe, welcoming and vibrant environment for residents, visitors and local businesses.
- Represent Bath BID and Venture Security in a professional and approachable manner.
- Engage positively with businesses, residents and visitors.
- Provide reassurance and support within the city centre and night‑time economy.
- Conduct high‑visibility foot patrols across Bath city centre.
- Help deter anti‑social behaviour, violence and disorder.
- Monitor and respond to developing situations and support vulnerable individuals.
- Respond professionally to incidents and emergencies.
- Use communication and de‑escalation techniques to manage situations safely.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and work within SIA guidelines.
- Operate Body‑Worn CCTV and complete interventions lawfully and proportionately.
- Work collaboratively with Police, CCTV operators, Bath Safe Bus and partner agencies.
- Support licensed venues, hotels and businesses during busy periods.
- Maintain effective communication through CityLink radio systems.
- Complete accurate incident reports and documentation.
- Use reporting systems, radios and security technology effectively.
- Ensure body‑worn camera footage is correctly managed and stored.
- Support vulnerable or intoxicated individuals with a calm and compassionate approach.
- Signpost individuals to relevant support services where appropriate.
- Assist with safeguarding and bystander intervention when required.
Candidate Requirements
- Current and active SIA licence (either Door Supervisor or Close Protection).
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and 10 year background checks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
- Strong conflict management and de‑escalation skills.
- A professional, confident and approachable manner.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good report writing skills.
