A London-based boutique investment bank is seeking an M&A Senior Associate or Vice President to join its growing team. The firm advises founder-led businesses across the SME and mid-market on company sales, growth capital and strategic transactions.
This is an opportunity to take a leading role on live transactions, work directly with business owners and senior decision-makers, and contribute to the growth of an entrepreneurial advisory platform.
The role
You will manage and execute M&A assignments from initial client engagement through to completion. Working closely with the senior team, you will lead day-to-day transaction work, maintain direct contact with clients and counterparties, and support the origination and development of new mandates.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing sell-side M&A and strategic advisory processes, including preparation, buyer outreach, due diligence, negotiation and completion.
- Building and reviewing financial models, valuation analyses and transaction scenarios.
- Preparing information memoranda, management presentations, financial analyses and other client materials.
- Coordinating due diligence and managing relationships with clients, buyers, investors and professional advisers.
- Supporting clients through key transaction decisions, with a focus on their commercial and personal objectives.
- Working with senior colleagues on business development, including identifying prospective clients and developing relationships with business owners and intermediaries.
- Providing guidance to junior team members and contributing to a collaborative team.
Candidate profile
- Approximately 5-8 years' experience in M&A, corporate finance or investment banking; lower mid-market experience is particularly relevant.
- A strong record of contributing to and managing M&A transactions, ideally across sell-side mandates.
- Excellent financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with business owners and senior stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple workstreams, take ownership and deliver to tight deadlines.
- A commercial, diligent and entrepreneurial approach, with a genuine interest in advising founder-led businesses.
- A relevant degree; ACA, CFA or equivalent qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
The opportunity
The successful candidate will join a partner-led advisory team and take on meaningful responsibility across transactions and client relationships. The role offers the chance to help shape a growing boutique, work closely with senior decision-makers and advise business owners through important strategic and ownership transitions.
