We are seeking a Trainee Accountant to join an established local firm and embark on a journey towards becoming a qualified professional. What you'll do:

  • Assist with the preparation of client accounts for a diverse portfolio of businesses (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies).
  • Support senior accountants with bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations, nominal ledger maintenance, and journal entries.
  • Help prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Contribute to the preparation of personal and corporate tax computations.
  • Learn to use various accounting software packages and digital tools.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks to support the efficient running of the practice.

Who we're looking for:

  • A proactive and highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A strong desire for continuous learning and professional development (study support will be provided).

Experience:

Some prior experience in an accountancy practice would be ideal, as it would provide a valuable head start. However, we also welcome applications from individuals with other relevant accounting experience (e.g., accounts assistant roles in industry, bookkeeping, or finance administration) who are eager to transfer their skills and learn the nuances of practice. Full training and mentorship will be provided.

Salary and Benefits:

GBP18,000–GBP28,000. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK. We will consider all qualified applications for this position.
