Finance Director Southampton Our client is a long‑established, family‑run property group with a strong presence across Southern Hampshire. With a diverse residential portfolio, they are now seeking a highly experienced Finance Director to join their senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role, responsible for driving financial strategy, ensuring robust financial control, and supporting commercial decision‑making across both the rental and development sides of the business. The Role This is a hands‑on leadership position within an SME environment, requiring strong technical capability, commercial acumen and the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in property finance, cash flow management, rent and arrears oversight, and development‑related financial control. Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Leadership Lead financial strategy and provide insight to the Board Support strategic decision‑making, capital allocation and long‑term planning Provide commercial evaluation of acquisitions, disposals and development opportunities Cashflow, Funding & Banking Maintain full oversight of Group cash flow and liquidity Manage banking relationships and negotiate funding facilities Ensure compliance with lender covenants and reporting requirements Lead funding strategy for development projects Financial Planning & Reporting Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cash flow projections Deliver accurate, timely management accounts and financial reporting Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts Property & Development Oversight Oversee financial performance of the rental portfolio, including income, arrears and voids Monitor development spend and ensure strong cost control Provide financial input into development viability and project structuring Operational Finance & Controls Ensure robust financial processes, governance and statutory compliance Oversee tax, VAT and Companies House requirements Maintain oversight of creditor and debtor positions Commercial & Legal Interface Support negotiation and structuring of intercompany and development agreements Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, banks and legal partners Leadership Lead and develop the finance function Build a high‑performance culture with strong accountability Requirements Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Proven senior finance leadership experience within an SME Strong cash flow and liquidity management expertise Experience managing banking relationships and funding structures Excellent commercial judgement Experience in property, rental or development‑led businesses preferred Development finance and cost control experience Familiarity with asset‑backed lending and covenant structures Experience with Xero or similar cloud‑based accounting systems What’s In It For You Strategic influence within a growing organisation Supportive, collaborative leadership team Clear opportunities for progression If you’re a commercially minded finance leader looking for a strategic role within a dynamic property group, please today.
