Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role will take ownership of financial control, reporting, and accounting operations across a multi-entity group. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening financial governance, improving reporting quality, and ensuring the business is fully prepared for future investor, buyer, lender, and adviser scrutiny.

The Opportunity

This position offers far more than traditional financial control responsibilities. The successful individual will work closely with senior leadership to support the business through a key phase of its evolution, helping to drive financial excellence while contributing to transaction readiness and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process and consolidation of multiple entities.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful management accounts.
  • Maintain robust balance sheet controls, reconciliations, and cash flow management.
  • Produce meaningful analysis of financial performance, including revenue, margins, EBITDA, working capital, and forecasting.
  • Strengthen financial controls, governance, and reporting frameworks across the business.
  • Support annual statutory accounts preparation and external audits.
  • Develop and implement a detailed financial sales-readiness programme.
  • Prepare information for vendor and buyer due diligence processes.
  • Build and maintain high-quality financial data room documentation.
  • Support quality of earnings analysis, working capital reviews, and transaction-related financial reporting.
  • Partner with external advisers including accountants, auditors, lawyers, and corporate finance specialists.

About You

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded qualified accountant who combines strong technical expertise with proven transaction experience.

You will possess:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
  • Direct involvement in a completed business sale, private equity investment, acquisition, or comparable corporate transaction.
  • Hands-on experience supporting financial due diligence, data room preparation, quality of earnings reviews, and stakeholder enquiries.
  • Strong technical accounting, reporting, consolidation, cash flow, and balance sheet management skills.
  • A track record of enhancing financial controls, systems, and processes within a growing or evolving business.
  • The ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and challenge where appropriate.
  • Ideally experience within a multi-entity group environment.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary circa £75,000
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangement
  • Cardiff office attendance approximately 20% of the time
  • Paid travel expenses
  • Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making
  • Opportunity to play a critical role in a future business transaction
  • A chance to join a growing organisation at a pivotal stage of its journey
