I’m partnering with a world‑renowned, high‑growth group with their search for an Indirect Tax Accountant. This organisation is a global leader in its field and this is a rare opportunity to join a high‑performing global tax function with genuine international reach and exposure.
The Opportunity
Sitting within the Global Tax team, this role reports directly to the Global Head of Indirect Tax. It offers a blend of indirect tax compliance, customs oversight, advisory work, and strategic project involvement across a diverse global footprint.
You’ll play a key role in shaping and executing the group’s indirect tax strategy, supporting major business initiatives, and ensuring compliance excellence across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Indirect Tax & Customs Compliance
- Review UK VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and clear variance explanations.
- Act as a point of contact for indirect tax queries from the business and tax authorities.
- Oversee UK import/export compliance and minimise operational delays.
- Maintain and expand a global catalogue of indirect tax obligations, supporting onboarding of new regions.
- Review UK PSA submissions and ensure timely, accurate filings.
- Monitor customs compliance and identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce risk.
- Risk Management & Controls
- Lead the indirect tax components of the UK Senior Accounting Officer process.
- Maintain global process and control documentation.
- Implement controls to mitigate compliance and financial risks, driving continuous improvement.
- Feed indirect tax and customs risks into the Group Tax risk register.
- Business Partnering & Projects
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Operations and Group Tax, providing clear and commercially grounded advice.
- Support major projects including refinancing, M&A, restructurings and operational changes.
- Assist with tax controversy and authority enquiries.
- Identify opportunities to optimise tax reliefs and reduce indirect tax exposure.
- Develop internal training and guidance to build tax awareness across the organisation.
About you: Experience & Qualifications
- Recognised accounting or tax qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Indirect tax and customs experience, ideally within a multinational environment or top tier accounting firm.
- Knowledge of UK/EU VAT and US SUT; exposure to other jurisdictions beneficial.
