Venture Recruitment Partners is delighted to be partnering with a high-profile, fast-moving organisation in Basingstoke to recruit a Head of Capital & Subsidiary Finance into a critical senior leadership role. This is a role for someone who wants to own the numbers that shape the future. You’ll sit at the centre of major investment decisions, controlling how hundreds of millions of pounds are planned, spent and governed and you’ll have real influence over where the organisation goes next.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll lead a specialist team and become the trusted expert for everything capital, VAT and subsidiary finance across the Group. You’ll drive the entire capital agenda: from multi-year investment strategies and asset planning to monthly reporting, audit and governance. At the same time, you’ll oversee a portfolio of subsidiary businesses, giving Boards the financial insight and structure they need to grow, perform and deliver value. This is a role with visibility, autonomy and impact, working alongside senior leaders across estates, IT, operations and commercial teams.
What you’ll be driving
- Shape and lead 3–5-year capital plans at Board level
- Partner with estates, IT and operations to prioritise major investments
- Deliver clear, insightful monthly capital reporting
- Own and embed capital policies across the Group
- Lead monthly and year-end accounts under UK GAAP and IFRS
- Run statutory accounts, audits and financial governance for subsidiaries
- Support subsidiary Boards with forecasts, business plans and commercial decisions
- Manage transfer pricing and intercompany charging
- Keep the Group balance sheet strong, accurate and well-controlled
VAT, tax & technical leadership
- Be the Group’s VAT authority, maximising recovery and ensuring compliance
- Manage external tax and VAT advisers
- Oversee statutory filings and payments
- Advise on leases, depreciation and complex accounting matters
Leadership & governance
- Strengthen financial controls and audit processes
- Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing finance team
Who this is for
You’ll be a CCAB-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with strong experience in capital accounting, statutory reporting and audit in a large, complex organisation. You’re comfortable in senior rooms, able to influence Executives and Boards, and confident translating technical finance into clear, commercial insight. You’ll bring:
- Proven success in capital planning, forecasting and reporting
- A strong financial accounting and audit background
- Experience supporting Boards and senior leaders
- Knowledge of VAT, leases and technical accounting
- The ability to lead, develop and motivate a team
- A strategic, proactive, solutions-driven mindset
