About the Role

As a Senior Technician within the Sub-Assembly department at Venture, you will be a highly experienced member of the team responsible for the preparation, servicing, inspection and build of precision motorsport components including gearboxes, suspension components, drivelines and other sub-assemblies.

Reporting to the Sub-Assembly Lead, you will be trusted to work independently, take ownership of complex builds and resolve technical issues with minimal supervision. You will also support, supervise and mentor junior and less experienced technicians, helping to maintain high standards of workmanship across the team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Sub-Assembly Technician, you will take ownership of complex build, service and inspection activities, using your experience and technical judgement to ensure all assemblies meet Venture’s quality, performance and safety standards.

Build, Service & Inspection:

  • Independently build, inspect and service gearboxes, differentials, suspension components, driveline assemblies and other motorsport sub-assemblies.
  • Work accurately from technical drawings, assembly instructions and specifications using precision measurement equipment, torque tools and assembly jigs.
  • Carry out strip, inspection, servicing, cleaning and re-assembly to professional motorsport standards.
  • Diagnose faults, identify wear or damage and determine appropriate corrective action, escalating significant issues where required.
  • Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of completed assemblies.
  • Support vehicle build, test preparation and event activities where required.

Technical Support & Mentoring:

  • Provide technical guidance and practical support to junior and less experienced technicians.
  • Supervise work where required, ensuring it is completed safely, accurately and to the expected standard.
  • Mentor technicians and share knowledge, techniques and best practice to support their development.
  • Lead by example, promoting high standards of workmanship, organisation and professionalism.

Processes & Quality:

  • Work to agreed build and quality processes, ensuring consistency, repeatability and traceability.
  • Maintain accurate build records, service histories, inspection documentation and parts traceability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve build methods, tooling, quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technical teams to resolve issues and ensure correct fitment and function of assemblies.
  • Identify and escalate technical, quality or safety concerns appropriately.

Qualifications, Skills & Personal Attributes

Essential:

  • Significant experience assembling and servicing gearboxes, drivelines, suspension systems and/or other complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong experience within motorsport, race teams, prototype vehicles or precision engineering.
  • Demonstrable ability to undertake complex mechanical assembly work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of torque tools, precision measurement equipment and assembly/alignment jigs.
  • Good understanding of build documentation, inspection, quality control and component traceability.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring or supervising less experienced technicians.Full UK driving licence required.
  • Be prepared to travel to events, tests, or client sites as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience with motorsport gearbox or driveline systems such as Hewland, Xtrac, Quaife or similar.
  • Knowledge of suspension systems and setup principles.
  • Experience with prototype or development builds.
