About the Role
The Finance Business Partner will collaborate with the Finance Manager, to improve financial reporting, understanding and insight into business performance. The role will take ownership of specific reporting areas, partnering closely with the Project Planning Manager and Operational support, to help strengthen financial control, forecasting, and understanding of project performance, within a fast-growing SME environment. This new role is required to support our sustained and continued growth and would be an exciting opportunity for someone who is part or fully qualified and would like to grow with the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Partnering & Projects: Business partner with Project Managers, to improve understanding of individual project performance, including cost, margin, and WIP. Raise sales invoices relating to key projects, ensuring accuracy and timely billing. Develop partnerships to improve financial literacy across the business. Proactively analyse data to help drive the business forwards. Own the revenue recognition for long term projects.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the production of the annual budget and mid-year forecasts. Collaborate with business leaders on understanding variances and opportunities to improve financial performance, year on year.
- Performance Monitoring: Identify key performance indicators (KPI’s) and track performance against agreed targets. Analyse business trends on a consistent basis to understand and influence performance. Drive financial reviews of projects to identify successes, and lessons to be learnt for future projects.
- General: Undertake ad-hoc tasks to support wider business needs and finance team priorities.
Qualifications, Skills & Personal Attributes
Qualifications & Experience: Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent practical experience. Strong understanding of management reporting, accruals, and prepayments. Experience working in an SME or project-based environment, especially Engineering and/or Motorsport, is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies: Advanced Excel skills, with confidence handling large datasets and building models. Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge and ask questions. Ability to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with evolving requirements typical of a growing SME.
