Overview
Position: Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT). This role is part of the Mortuary and Bereavement Services team at Venture & Agents. The successful candidate will be supported to develop the skills and knowledge required for this specialist role and will be enrolled onto the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology) in January 2026. The diploma will take between 18 and 24 months to complete. During this time you will work under the supervision of experienced APTs while gaining hands-on experience in the mortuary. Upon successful completion and qualification, you will progress to a Band 4 APT role with opportunities for professional development and CPD to support future career progression.

Responsibilities
- Assist qualified APTs in post-mortem activities, including preparation of the post-mortem room and supporting pathologists during examinations.
- Handle and store samples in line with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) standards.
- Safely admit, label, store, and release the deceased with accurate records and identification procedures.
- Support bereaved families with dignity and sensitivity, including attending viewings and liaising with funeral directors, coroners, and other professionals.
- Maintain cleanliness, infection control, and health and safety standards within the mortuary and related facilities.
- Accurately maintain electronic and paper records, ensuring compliance with GDPR, Trust policies, and HTA codes of practice.
- Undertake all required training, including mandatory Trust training and the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Science (APT).
