This is an opportunity to join a small but innovative and dynamic multi-disciplinary team providing ENT services at Wye Valley NHS Trust.
The appointed doctor will work in outpatient clinics for both elective and emergency patients, as well as assisting in theatre. The role will involve reviewing routine ENT referrals under the guidance of a consultant. Timetabled and dedicated time for administrative tasks and continuing professional development are included in the job plan. Time will be spent in theatre developing surgical skills, and we expect the appointed doctor to work towards competence in core elective and emergency ENT surgical procedures (e.g., tonsillectomy, grommet insertion, pharyngolaryngoscopy and foreign body removal).

We are located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, providing acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys, including Hereford County Hospital and community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye. Person Specification
- Essential
- Basic Medical Qualifications
- Full doctor's registration with the General Medical Council. Licence to Practice
- Post graduate qualification in ENT, MRCS (ORL), FRCS (ORL), DOHNS or equivalent
- At least 4 years full-time post graduate training (or equivalent on a part-time or flexible basis), with at least 2 years in ENT specialty training or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in ENT, or equivalent experience and competencies
- Minimum of 12 months doctorβs experience working in the NHS
- Experience in a busy department
- Ability to work/operate unsupervised
- Ability to make senior level clinical decisions
- Competent to perform basic ENT procedures (nasal packing, quinsy aspiration, micro suction, etc.)
- Experience in and participation in departmental audit
- Higher Degree (e.g., MD, PhD)
- Ability to independently perform basic ENT surgical procedures
