The predicted salary is between 15 - 20 € per hour.

Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in both the packaging and refinery departments. Utilizing skill set, maintain optimal operating condition of equipment using company approved food safety practices and policies. Train the Maintenance Mechanic Tech I (Production) to increase skill level in the department. Decrease equipment downtime utilizing training and skills.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses mechanical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment in accordance with established GMP and safety procedures.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Calls for back up and coordinates repairs with other mechanics.
  • Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Performs required routine preventative maintenance and repair activities when not working on breakdowns.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical, electronic, and mechanical components throughout the facility.
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with and troubleshooting PLCs, AC/DC electrical troubleshooting on food packaging/processing equipment and production/processing machine repair.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Trained on safety related programs necessary to perform the position, including LOTO and confined space entry.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical applications and principles including part identification.
  • Strong work ethic related to attendance and performance of duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form, including technical instructions in mathematical form and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety including demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used in electrical, electronic, and mechanical trades.

Physical Demands:

All jobs require sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform the required task(s) and typically also require at a minimum: intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may also be required.

Work Environment:

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required. Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements. In addition, certain jobs may require employees to work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity; be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
