Senior Legal Counsel - Pharmaceuticals
The Legal Senior Counsel is responsible for providing legal support and advice to one of the worlds leading pharma companies (FTSE 100) within their marketing company. Reporting to the Legal Director, the role holder will provide a broad range of legal advice related to the commercialisation of medicines in the UK, working closely with business colleagues across the marketing company.
The role holder will liaise with members of the biopharmaceuticals and oncology business units including the strategy and innovation teams, commercial operations, market access & corporate affairs functions. The role holder will also act as deputy data protection officer for the UKMC and provide advice on business initiatives involving AI. The Senior Counsel manages high level risk by making complex judgements, developing innovative solutions and process improvements and applying a comprehensive cross-functional and industry understanding.
Essential Skills
- This position is for a senior lawyer with considerable commercial inhouse experience advising
- Experience in UK pharma/biotech experience supporting sales and marketing/NHS activities of a UK affiliate. Having this experience is essential given the nature of the work
- Must have previous experience of advising a UK based pharmaceutical/biotech businesses supporting its sales and marketing operations. This experience must include advising on NHS collaborations, grants, sponsorship, and other ABPI code related matters, reimbursement, supply chain and investigator sponsored research
- Should be familiar with ABPI Code
- Candidate should also have a material experience/solid grounding in competition and UK/EU data privacy
- Work will include, drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements (eg services, sponsorship, collaboration, distribution, and NHS-facing contracts).
- Candidate needs to be willing up undertake a range of work (some matters are relatively straightforward, while others are more complex)
- Likely at least 8+ PQE
- Must be experienced in navigating cross-functional teams in a large corporate organisation and building stakeholder relationships across departments. Must be able to partner proactively with internal stakeholders (marketing, medical, compliance, and commercial teams) to identify and manage legal risk
- Hold a current Solicitor's Regulation Authority Practising Certificate, though a current overseas practising certificate plus considerable UK experience will be considered
This contract is initially for 6 months offering a day rate of Β£900 per day inside of IR35. The location is 1 day a week in London with the rest wfh.
