Global AI Lead - Insurance / Financial Services
London – hybrid, two days a week in the office
Permanent | Up to £140,000 basic + package
A leading insurance group is looking for a Global AI Lead to turn AI opportunities into practical improvements across its businesses.
This is a senior, group-level role with ownership of the AI roadmap and delivery pipeline. Working alongside the Global Data Lead and Enterprise Architecture Lead, you’ll identify where AI can improve operational efficiency, prioritise investment and take solutions through to production, adoption and measurable results.
You’ll manage a small existing team of four, supported by wider data and technical delivery teams. This isn’t a day-to-day coding role, but you’ll need the technical depth to assess opportunities, challenge proposed solutions and guide delivery.
The role
- Work directly with business leaders and operational teams to understand their processes, systems and opportunities for improvement.
- Own and prioritise the global AI pipeline, building clear business cases and tracking the benefits delivered.
- Lead AI initiatives from discovery through to implementation, adoption and ongoing improvement.
- Develop reusable solutions and delivery approaches that can be scaled across regions and businesses.
- Work closely with architecture, data, security and risk teams to ensure solutions are integrated, supportable and appropriately governed.
- Build understanding of AI across the group and help teams apply it effectively.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have delivered AI or machine learning solutions into live business environments and be able to explain the operational improvements they achieved. Your experience should extend beyond Copilot rollouts and individual productivity tools.
- A strong background in AI, machine learning, data science or intelligent automation.
- A broad understanding of the technology stack, including infrastructure, data quality and lineage, application integration and user-facing systems.
- Experience identifying business opportunities and taking ownership of delivery through to measurable outcomes.
- The ability to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders while working credibly with technical teams.
- Practical judgement around AI governance, evaluation, security, privacy and human oversight.
Experience in insurance or wider financial services would be useful, but isn’t essential. We’re also interested in candidates from other sectors who have delivered meaningful operational improvements in complex organisations. Consultancy experience is welcome where it includes clear ownership of implementation and results.
This is an opportunity to shape how AI is used across an international group, with an existing team and early initiatives to build on.
