The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the QS to protect margin, improve cashflow, and maintain strong commercial control across Ventrolla’s heritage window restoration and joinery projects. The AQS owns defined workstreams (measurements, valuations inputs, variations prep, supply‑chain support) and ensures documentation accuracy and process discipline across regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre‑Contract & Tender Support: Complete take‑offs, basic BOQs and measurement summaries from drawings/specifications. Collate supplier/subcontract quotes and prepare comparison schedules. Assist with risk registers and value‑engineering options under QS guidance.
- Cost Management & Records: Maintain project cost trackers (budget vs committed vs forecast). Capture site instructions, dayworks and cost events promptly with full evidence. Keep auditable commercial files (drawings, RFIs, quotes, approvals, photos).
- Valuations, Applications, Invoicing & Debt Support: Prepare inputs for monthly valuations and payment applications (measures, evidence, narratives). Check certifications against applications and flag discrepancies quickly. Support debt management: track certified vs paid, chase documentation needed for payment release, and help reduce debtor days by removing blockers.
- Change Control & Variations: Log early warnings and scope changes; assemble variation files (measure, price build‑ups, correspondence). Draft variation submissions for QS review; track status through to agreement.
- Contract Administration: Help issue and track contractual notices (with QS oversight). Ensure compliance with JCT/NEC procedures and Ventrolla commercial processes.
- Supply Chain & Procurement Support: Raise requisitions, place low‑risk orders within delegated authority, and confirm lead‑times. Monitor supplier performance (price, quality, delivery) and feed into QS for reviews.
- Reporting & Close‑Out: Produce weekly commercial summaries (cost/margin movement, risks, opportunities). Assist with final account prep: evidence packs, reconciliations, lessons learned.
