Full-time, permanent | Remote, with occasional travel for site visits and presentations and occasional office work in Oldbury

Ventro Group is a leading fire safety and building compliance business, backed by private equity investment from KLAR Partners. Through our brands (Ventro, Firntec, HJS and RD Jukes) we deliver fire protection, fire alarm, fire door, façade and electrical services across the UK. We are growing fast and investing in our people.

The Role

We are looking for a talented, commercially minded Bid Writer to join our Business Development team. Working remotely with occasional travel, you will lead the end-to-end bid process and play a critical role in driving revenue growth through high-quality, compelling tender submissions. You may have worked as a Bid Writer, Proposal Writer, Tender Writer, Bid Coordinator or Work Winning Executive.

As Bid Writer, you will:

  • Independently source relevant tender opportunities, including monitoring OJEU-regulated portals, and generate and present Bid/No Bid overviews to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Complete Approved Supplier Questionnaires (ASQs) and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), and lead Invitations to Tender (ITTs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) through the Work Winning Team
  • Write work-winning, high-quality technical responses that are competitive, compliant and aligned with company strategy
  • Apply company pricing policies or build bespoke pricing matrices for bid responses
  • Coordinate input from Estimating, Operations and Sales to produce complete, compliant submissions to strict deadlines
  • Own the final preparation and delivery of bids by print, email or portal, and attend site visits, interviews and presentations as required
  • Run post-bid debriefs, analyse wins and losses, and feed lessons learned back into future bids
  • Build and continuously develop a Bid Library of key information, and share bid best practice across the Group

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in bid writing or proposal development, ideally managing multiple bids simultaneously to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to turn technical detail into clear, persuasive responses
  • Strong understanding of tender processes (ITT, RFP, PQQ, ASQ), with awareness of procurement frameworks and compliance
  • High attention to detail, strong time management, and the ability to coordinate stakeholders across multiple teams
  • Familiarity with OJEU / public sector procurement is a plus
  • Experience with bid management tools or CRM systems, and industry knowledge in construction, fire protection or maintenance services, are welcome but not essential

You don’t need the exact title “Bid Writer”. Many of our best people came from bid, proposal, tender or commercial writing roles across fire and security, construction, building services or wider technical sectors.

Our Values

Right from the Start | Extreme Ownership | Day 1 Mindset

What We Offer

  • Career progression in a PE-backed, high-growth business
  • Training and development
  • Additional leave purchase option, healthcare scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, company reward scheme (vouchers and more) and regular company events
