Ventro Group is growing fast in the fire safety sector, and we are looking for a Fire Safety Estimator who has knowledge of the active arena, specifically alarm and sprinkler systems, to join our team and help deliver projects that genuinely protect lives and property.

If you are looking to develop specialist expertise in an essential industry while working on diverse, meaningful projects, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.

What’s in it for you:
  • Build specialist expertise: You will become highly skilled in fire safety estimating, working across passive fire protection, active fire systems, sprinklers, fire alarms and more. Develop knowledge in building regulations, fire safety standards and compliance frameworks that will make you invaluable in the industry.
  • Diverse and engaging work: Every project brings something different. One week you are estimating passive fire protection for a high-rise development, the next you are pricing active fire suppression systems for commercial buildings. The variety keeps the work interesting and accelerates your learning.
  • Job security in a recession-proof sector: Fire safety is always in demand. Regulations are tightening, compliance requirements are increasing, and buildings always need protection. You will be working in a sector with genuine long-term career prospects and clear progression paths.
  • Real ownership and impact: Take ownership of estimates from initial review through to final submission. Build relationships with suppliers and trade partners, negotiate competitive rates, and see your work directly contribute to company growth and project success.
Other benefits include:
  • Flexible Benefits: Holiday purchase scheme allowing additional time off
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive health insurance coverage
  • Employee Referral Program: Financial incentives for successful candidate referrals
  • Sustainable Transport: Cycle-to-work scheme supporting environmental initiatives
  • Company Rewards: Access to employee discount schemes and recognition programs
Day-to-day responsibilities:

You will be preparing detailed cost estimates for fire safety projects covering both passive and active fire protection systems. This involves reviewing tender documentation, interpreting technical specifications, and developing accurate, competitive quotations that meet client requirements and compliance standards.

Working from architectural drawings, floor plans and CAD files, you will calculate material requirements, assess labour costs, and coordinate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. You will need to spot potential challenges early - access restrictions, specification conflicts, or compliance issues that could impact project delivery and costs.

Time management is crucial. You will be managing multiple tenders simultaneously while ensuring everything is submitted well ahead of deadline. Attention to detail matters - your specifications need to be watertight and your cost analyses thorough enough to withstand scrutiny.

You will also be building strong relationships with trade partners and suppliers, negotiating competitive rates and creating a reliable network across fire protection manufacturers, specialist installers and system providers. Working closely with our delivery team, you will ensure your estimates are realistic, achievable and aligned with on-site realities. You will identify risks and opportunities in project scopes, preparing cost breakdowns that work for both internal teams and client review.

What you will need:
  • Essential skills: Strong attention to detail when reviewing specifications and preparing documentation; Knowledge of both passive and active fire safety but experience with sprinkler and alarm systems; Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans and CAD files; Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects; Good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, clients and suppliers; Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); Comfortable working to strict deadlines and managing workload under pressure.
  • Helpful experience: Technical knowledge of construction, fire safety systems or building services; Understanding of fire safety regulations and compliance standards; Experience with CAD software; Background in M&E or construction estimating.

We are more interested in your potential, work ethic and methodical approach than requiring you to tick every box perfectly.

About the role:

This isn’t just another estimating position. Fire safety is experiencing significant growth driven by evolving regulations, heightened compliance requirements and increased industry focus on building safety. You will be joining Ventro Group at an exciting time with genuine opportunities for career development.

The work is challenging but rewarding. When you win a tender for a school fire alarm upgrade or hospital sprinkler installation, you know your estimating skills are contributing to projects that protect people and save lives.
