Are you looking for an opportunity to gain some work experience? Would you like to see what it’s like to try out different jobs? We know it can sometimes be hard to find a job and volunteering isn’t always practical or affordable, so Brave Island is really excited to have teamed up with a range of different organisations to offer a number of paid placements which will be available over the next two years.

This placement is a six month opportunity hosted by Creative Island , the Island’s Cultural Development Agency. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and creative individual to join the Creative Island team, supporting the delivery of their exciting digital heritage initiative Curators’ Choice.

Curators’ Choice is a digital storytelling project that aims to shine a light on the Isle of Wight’s heritage by showcasing fascinating artefacts from local museums. Working closely with their Communications Manager Sam, you’ll help bring the Isle of Wight’s rich cultural history to life by supporting marketing and content delivery across digital platforms.

What’s involved?

  • Supporting the creation and scheduling of digital content for Curators’ Choice
  • Assisting with the coordination between Creative Island and participating museums
  • Helping to gather and organise research, photos, and stories related to selected artefacts
  • Assisting with marketing campaign planning and implementation
  • Contributing creative ideas for content and audience engagement
  • Supporting on-site during content creation days (when needed)

Practical info: This placement is open to those aged 18-25 for the duration of the placement. It is one day per week (most likely on Thursdays) for 6 months, and you will be paid a stipend of £100/day. This placement is based at Building 41, Cowes, with the exception of visiting Island museums to film content.
