Ventia is looking to engage a Caretaker to support our Defence Base Services contract. The role reports to the Ranges Supervisor and involves a variety of caretaking duties at Yampi Sound Base, located outside of Derby.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing customer support to subcontractors and other personnel entering the base
  • Conducting security checks
  • Performing grounds and maintenance activities as required
  • Initial point of contact for subcontractors visiting the base to carry out works
  • Administration tasks, including reporting any damage to buildings, equipment, or other assets (fences, trees, roads, etc.)
  • Mowing, slashing, gardening and weed removal as required
  • Fire break and dirt road maintenance
  • Removal of rubbish
  • Providing a security presence

This is a full-time permanent position with a live-in arrangement, house and company car provided. You will work a 38-hour week but will need to be on-call and on-site during out-of-hours periods and weekends as required. The salary package is $90,000 per year (including Super). House, car, fuel card, and internet are all provided. Applicants must be Australian citizens and willing to undergo a police check.

Requirements:

  • Current WA Driver’s Licence
  • Current Senior First Aid or willingness to obtain it
  • Basic computer skills with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Open and clear communication within a team environment over radio
  • Experience with groundskeeping, firefighting, or mechanical servicing is highly regarded
