Team Introduction:
Venterra’s Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet client needs.
Role Description / Purpose of the role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join us on a Temporary basis for circa 3 months with the potential for an extension. This role suits someone who enjoys ownership over day-to-day responsibilities and thrives in a fast-paced environment. It is an opportunity to utilise bookkeeping skills, business acumen, and communication skills within the business. The position reports directly to the GDG Finance Director and to the Ordtek Managing Director.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining the books and records of the business in key areas
- Bank – Cash receipts, cash book, bank reconciliations
- Accounts payable – invoices and payments
- Expenses and credit card claim processing
- Leading and approving sales invoicing
- Assisting in preparation of VAT and WHT returns
- Leading and coordinating Credit Control
- Knowledge of General Ledger activity and journal postings
- Assisting in the preparation of management accounts journals including contract assets and liabilities
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting cycle
- Supporting year-end reporting and statutory annual audit
- Involvement in process improvements and ad hoc finance projects
- Assisting with commercial reporting for backlog & discounted pipeline
- Skilled and experienced bookkeeper with proven finance experience essential
- A relevant accreditation or working towards a professional qualification
- Knowledge and experience of accounting software packages – XERO, Netsuite, Sage 50, or similar
- Well organised – good time management – ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Professional, positive attitude, responsible, motivated, flexible and conscientious
- Knowledge of time cost / project management systems an advantage (not essential)
- Ideal experience in a medium-sized engineering/professional services firm
- Customer focused – likes helping people and adaptable to a dynamic environment
