We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Principal Electronics Design Engineer as a technical lead to our electronic design function within our Product Development team. Reporting to the Product Development Manager, this role involves developing new products in accordance with the Venta Product Roadmap in collaboration with other design functions such as mechanical and optical design. The successful candidate will be the go-to for all things electronics design at Venta. They will be responsible for upholding a highly professional outfit delivering products that meet or exceed the brief, on time and within budget.

The role of Principal Electronics Design Engineer involves:

  • Developing robust electronic designs for lighting products that meet regulatory, performance, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Defining, upholding, and continuously improving Venta's electronic design standards and documentation.
  • Working closely with the other functions of Venta's design team and other departments to ensure there is a consistent and integrated approach.
  • Providing technical direction, guidance, and feedback to internal and external engineering resources.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and using the insights to maintain the company's competitive edge.
  • Delivering design milestones on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Ensuring electronic designs achieve long-term reliability and serviceability from day one.
  • Updating key stakeholders with project progress including mechanical solutions that are validated and risks mitigated.

Essential Skills:

  • A strong communicator.
  • Organised with strong project management skills.
  • Experienced in electronic design with at least 3 years in a lead or senior engineering capacity.
  • Extensively experienced in power electronics, ideally within automotive lighting, LED systems, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Expert proficient in electronic design tools (preferably Altium Designer or equivalent), delivering complete design documentation from concept to manufacture.
  • Deep expertise in designing products to meet stringent automotive and defence EMC compliance requirements.
  • Possessing a Degree in Electronics Engineering/Design or related discipline with a proven track record of leading projects through to completion as the technical lead.
