About the Company

Our client is an FCA-authorised investment firm providing brokerage and trading services to institutional, professional and retail-facing brokers and wealth managers.

The business provides access to global markets through a combination of electronic and high-touch execution services, supported by established operational, compliance and technology infrastructure.

As part of its growth strategy, the firm is developing a high-touch fixed income trading desk operating through a matched principal, inter-dealer-style business model.

The desk will focus on originating client order flow, sourcing liquidity, matching buyer and seller interest, and facilitating fixed income transactions within a controlled and regulated environment.

Role Purpose

The Fixed Income Producer-Trader will be responsible for originating, developing and monetising client relationships while executing fixed income transactions on a high-touch basis.

This is a front-office, revenue-generating role requiring the successful candidate to bring, maintain and grow their own client relationships and trading book.

The successful individual will operate across both sales and trading, identifying opportunities, covering clients directly, sourcing liquidity, negotiating prices, executing trades and managing the full commercial trading relationship.

There is no separate fixed income sales team, making this role particularly suited to an entrepreneurial fixed income professional with an established network of clients, counterparties, dealers, market makers and liquidity providers.

The successful candidate will be expected to build and develop a profitable, flow-based business within the firm's regulatory, risk and operational framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Origination and Revenue Generation
  • Bring an established network of fixed income clients, counterparties and market relationships capable of generating executable order flow.
  • Develop, manage and grow a personal client book across institutional, professional, broker, wealth management and other eligible client segments.
  • Actively originate trading opportunities through direct client coverage, market colour, axes, reverse enquiry, runs and idea generation.
  • Liquidity Sourcing and Execution
  • Source liquidity for institutional clients, acting as a principal intermediary between clients and sourcing liquidity from dealers and other market participants.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance liquidity access while ensuring best execution and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing and execute fixed income transactions across relevant markets and counterparties.
  • Product Coverage
  • The role may cover a broad range of cash fixed income instruments, including:
  • Government bonds and treasury securities.
  • Investment grade corporate bonds.
  • High yield bonds.
  • Emerging market bonds.
  • Supranational, agency and municipal securities, where applicable.
  • Repo products.
  • Counterparty and Liquidity Management
  • Maintain and expand relationships with dealers, brokers, market makers and other liquidity providers.
  • Source competitive liquidity for client orders across multiple counterparties and venues.
  • Build a strong network of market participants to support the growth and profitability of the trading business.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure all trading activity complies with applicable FCA regulations, internal policies and market best practices.
  • Work closely with compliance and risk management teams to ensure adherence to relevant regulatory and risk frameworks.
  • Maintain high standards around best execution, market abuse prevention and other applicable European and international regulatory requirements.
  • Key Performance Indicators

Success in the role will be measured through

  • Revenue generated from the individual's client book.
  • Growth in client relationships and active trading accounts.
  • Profitability of matched principal or riskless principal transactions.
  • Breadth and quality of liquidity-provider relationships.
  • Conversion of client enquiries into executable trades.
