Drive the organization's data governance strategy by establishing policies, standards, and controls that ensure data is accurate, consistent, secure, and used responsibly across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards (data quality, metadata, lineage, classification, retention)
  • Partner with data owners/stewards across business units to define roles, responsibilities, and accountability for data assets
  • Lead data quality assessments and remediation plans; monitor KPIs/metrics for governance maturity
  • Maintain data catalogs, business glossaries, and metadata repositories
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX) and internal policies
  • Support master data management (MDM) initiatives and data lineage documentation
  • Conduct risk assessments related to data privacy, security, and access controls
  • Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and analytics teams on governance tooling (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Purview)
  • Deliver training and communication to build a data-governance culture across the organization
  • Prepare governance reporting for leadership and audit/regulatory bodies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or related field (Master's a plus)
  • 8+ years in data governance, data management, or data quality roles
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM) and regulatory requirements
  • Hands-on experience with data catalog/governance tools and SQL
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience with data privacy and security best practices

Preferred

  • Certifications: CDMP, DGSP, or similar
  • Experience in a regulated industry (finance, healthcare, insurance)
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure/AWS)
