We are looking for an experienced and hands-on DevOps Team Lead to join a growing technology business based near Colchester. This is a permanent opportunity offering up to £100,000 plus benefits, with hybrid working and the opportunity to shape the future DevOps and cloud infrastructure strategy of the organisation. We are looking for someone based in Essex or the surrounding area who is comfortable commuting to Colchester 1-2 times per week.
The Role
You will lead a small but highly capable DevOps / Platform Engineering function, taking ownership of cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD pipelines, system reliability and platform scalability. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering and would suit somebody who enjoys building modern cloud-native environments while mentoring engineers and driving best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor DevOps / Platform engineers
- Drive infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code
- Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines
- Own cloud infrastructure and platform reliability
- Improve scalability, monitoring, observability and security
- Work closely with software engineering and architecture teams
- Influence DevOps strategy and technical direction

Experience Required
- Proven experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering or SRE leadership role

- Excellent automation and CI/CD knowledge
- Strong Kubernetes and Terraform experience preferred
- Ability to operate in a hands-on technical leadership role
