The Product Owner Role
We’re looking for a Product Owner (PO) to join our Technology Services team, working within the EUX value stream to drive product development and continuous improvement. This is a varied role and will include (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with value stream OKRs.
- Conduct workshops and analysis to design and define delivery iterations – gathering requirements, assessing value, and ensuring prioritisation delivers maximum impact.
- Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria and product specifications.
- Prioritise and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is refined and maintained.
- Work with Agile Delivery Leads (ADLs) to ensure a steady flow of roadmap-aligned work.
- Create and own dashboards to track metrics and use data to inform backlog prioritisation and reduce waste.
- Act as the first point of contact for product-related queries within the squad(s).
- Represent the voice of the customer to ensure business value is clearly understood.
- Coordinate and participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, refinement, planning, retrospectives).
- Identify and manage risks, issues and blockers, escalating where appropriate.
- Report on actual vs. expected progress and roadmap impact.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and provide clear communication updates.
- Monitor product performance and drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making.
- Coordinate product launches and internal communications.
- Stay up to date with industry best practice in product management, technology and UX.
- Contribute to the wider Product Chapter, sharing best practice and mentoring Associate Product Owners.
- Participate in the broader product community to support alignment and continuous learning.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience working with Technology Infrastructure tools, systems and platforms.
- Previous experience in a product-related role within Agile delivery teams.
- Experience managing and prioritising a product backlog to maximise business value.
- Customer-centric mindset with strong problem‑solving capability.
- Relevant certification (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner).
- Experience with Agile collaboration and product tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence).
- Ability to write clear business requirements for engineering implementation.
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Kanban, Lean, Scrum) and product frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Highly organised with strong prioritisation capability.
Desirable Experience
- Experience implementing and managing End User Experience technologies and tools.
- Demonstrated application of Lean principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
