We are seeking a skilled Painter/Decorator to join the Direct Works team within Housing Property Services. The role involves delivering high-quality painting and decorating works across responsive, planned, void, and capital repair programmes, ensuring excellent standards of workmanship and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out painting and decorating works to a high standard in domestic properties.
- Plan and organise workloads effectively to meet service targets and customer appointments.
- Respond to urgent and emergency repairs as required.
- Accurately record works completed, materials used, and follow-on repairs using mobile devices (PDA).
- Maintain tools, materials, stock, and company vehicle in line with council procedures.
- Identify and report additional repair needs and support the ordering of materials.
- Work safely in line with health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and council policies.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices or trainees when required.
- Deliver excellent customer service and act as an ambassador for the council.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience delivering high-quality painting works in domestic properties.
- Aware of construction safety practices, including asbestos awareness and working at heights.
- Ability to use IT systems and mobile devices for job recording and materials ordering.
- Good communication skills with residents and colleagues.
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet service needs.
- Clean UK driving licence.
- Basic DBS clearance.
