We are seeking a skilled Painter/Decorator to join the Direct Works team within Housing Property Services. The role involves delivering high-quality painting and decorating works across responsive, planned, void, and capital repair programmes, ensuring excellent standards of workmanship and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out painting and decorating works to a high standard in domestic properties.
  • Plan and organise workloads effectively to meet service targets and customer appointments.
  • Respond to urgent and emergency repairs as required.
  • Accurately record works completed, materials used, and follow-on repairs using mobile devices (PDA).
  • Maintain tools, materials, stock, and company vehicle in line with council procedures.
  • Identify and report additional repair needs and support the ordering of materials.
  • Work safely in line with health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and council policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to apprentices or trainees when required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and act as an ambassador for the council.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality painting works in domestic properties.
  • Aware of construction safety practices, including asbestos awareness and working at heights.
  • Ability to use IT systems and mobile devices for job recording and materials ordering.
  • Good communication skills with residents and colleagues.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet service needs.
  • Clean UK driving licence.
  • Basic DBS clearance.
